The 'magic lane' in the rain on this morning's soggy dog walk. Even in the pouring rain, there is still magic here....

I happened to be up the hill from where I live today so I took a snap for you! In the distance the Black Mountains. The rounded hill (2nd from right) was an Iron Age hillfort, & later had a Norman castle added, the latter now in total ruin but the ditches of the hillfort are still fine.

Today's gifts left below the 'feeding station': top one is from Barry the buzzard, bottom one from a red kite.

The BBC is promoting RefUK as a govt in waiting, when RefUK have 8 MPs, only 3 elected, the other 5 defected from the Tories. Lib Dems have 71 MPs but are ignored. Ofcom is supposed to ensure impartiality of the BBC - the national broadcaster - so clearly Ofcom is complicit in this political bias.

Despite a bit of rain, our river is still very low. Hard to believe that when there's been a lot of rain it rises up & floods the road!

Discussions about flooding encouraged me to take this photo today of the footbridge over the river here. The river is very low, & the water is about 3m below the bridge currently. The second picture is the same footbridge in winter when the river is high.

Astonishing how stupid people can be. With much of Wales burning, fire services from all over, the Army, farmers & contractors are busy fighting to control the blaze. The reservoir the helicopters are scooping water from is closed to the public. Despite this people continue to swim in it ffs...

For the first time in about a fortnight, the air over our village here in mid Wales hasn't been thick w smoke from wildfires. All thanks to the Fire Service, the farmers, the contractors & the military who are continuing to keep us safe & hopefully minimise the loss of habitat & wild creatures. ❤️

I'm re-posting this pic of Barry Buzzard to let you know he came tonight to be fed. We're delighted to see him as we have many wildfires on the hills & mountains so good to know he's okay. He'll no doubt roost in the oak at the bottom of our garden tonight so he can get his breakfast!

Wildfire above Llangattock today. We live 10 miles away but nevertheless our village is swathed in smoke. So sad for the wildlife, the ecology, the air quality & the firefighters & other agencies fighting to get it under control.

A friend sent this just now. The last few days I’ve absolutely felt like giving up. Nothing’s going to change. The good ppl are ignored; only the millionaires, the CEO’s and Israel seem to be the people who are listened to. Being a good person counts for absolutely nothing. We are truly invisible.

Well we've still got a bit of water in the river. Hard to believe currently that when it rains heavily on the mountains, the river can rise up and flood the road & nearby houses!

Went to Merthyr to do some shopping, saw smoke in the distance. Got back to this area and our valley was full of smoke. Two large grass fires, one to the north, one to the south. I do wish it would rain.

No fun living in the wild of Wales nowadays (other than the spectacular scenery & culture of course). Look at this ffs. We have little public transport, no A&E in Powys & we have to travel to England for most routine treatments. Even the vet has stopped out of ours emergency appointments.

There now follows a party election broadcast by the Count Binface Party, And if I do say so myself, it's a banger. #VoteBinface #Clacton

This is a winter photo of Barry Buzzard who used to come to our shed roof for his dinner when hunting wasn't good. We hadn't seen him since March - and this evening he's back with lighter plumage & looking very pleased with himself. Up to date photo to follow when he stays still long enough!

The tawny owls here were very noisy last night - lovely to hear them. Also lots of pipistrelle bats swooping and diving silently. What nocturnal wildlife do you have where you live?
