Very sad to hear of the passing of Mushuau Innu Elder Joachim Nui in Natuashish today. At age 92 and one of the last Innu to be born and raised on the land in the Innu nomadic hunter-gatherer tradition. I consider myself lucky to have met and spent time with him in my travels with the Innu.

Here is some of media organizations that covered the Innu story over the past two weeks. CBC Radio and TV, APTN, Indiginews, CTV, Reuters, Canadian Press, The Independent, La Presse, NTV, VOCM, Atlantic Business News. They represent millions of readers ad viewer across Canada and around the world.

The Atlantic Journalism Awards were last week in Halifax. I couldn't go as I was in Labrador covering the Innu first nations. Happy to say I picked up a Gold in Features category and a Silver in News category. Both photos were shot on assignment for the Globe and Mail.
