Love threads like this, but they also remind me how out of touch I am (not that I particularly care, but it's nice to know what's going on sometimes). Don't know any Mumford & Sons songs and have never even heard of Avicii.

Hot, slightly beery, take - you probably don’t like it, but Mumford and Sons are the most broadly influential musical force of the last twenty years. There is still SO much shit with a banjo and a vocal-fried soul melody out there, and it definitely comes from them.

Not found much lately but did find a few nice early stereo classical LPs yesterday. Asked if they had any more in case there was more of a collection out the back, but not. Was also a Michael Rabin (w/orchestra) but it was only mono

I’ve been steadily acquiring items from a huge local jazz collection. The main interest being transcription discs that the previous owner made bespoke sleeves for. Here are 9 more. These sleeves are not prints. The last four have collage elements, but the Jelly Roll’s are entirely hand painted.

I should re-read Ray Bradbury, read sci-fi almost exclusively when young and loved his stuff (not so much the horror/weird Mexican ones I probably didn't understand). Can't find the text online, but there's a similar depressing theme in Ward Moore's "The Flying Dutchman" written around the same time

Only have been about three records I've ever regretted selling, and that Guerillas on King is one of them. Was only going for about 20 or 25 quid when I sold it. It's not amazing but it's an unusual kind of folky sound
