Saw this unexpected news the other day but completely forgot about it. I do like the earlier Czarface albums a lot, but has felt like they've got formulaic and not sure I even got round to listening to the last few
Wait…this is real?

Love threads like this, but they also remind me how out of touch I am (not that I particularly care, but it's nice to know what's going on sometimes). Don't know any Mumford & Sons songs and have never even heard of Avicii.
Hot, slightly beery, take - you probably don’t like it, but Mumford and Sons are the most broadly influential musical force of the last twenty years. There is still SO much shit with a banjo and a vocal-fried soul melody out there, and it definitely comes from them.
Just caught a bit of Al Jazeera, and currently Canadian economist Armine Yalnizyan is being interviewed from home (presumably) in front of what looks like an impressive record collection
Can never have too many versions of Caravan, right? Just found this slightly bonkers big-band-with-synth one locally, this track and the cover are the best things about the LP, the rest seems a bit snoozy, although bonus points for bird sounds and stuff between the tracks. youtu.be/3w9nbDMqyXY

What's with the constant 'Upstream Timeout' error messages, Bluesky? Sounds like an old Blue Note jazz album. #UpstreamTimeout

Not found much lately but did find a few nice early stereo classical LPs yesterday. Asked if they had any more in case there was more of a collection out the back, but not. Was also a Michael Rabin (w/orchestra) but it was only mono

I’ve been steadily acquiring items from a huge local jazz collection. The main interest being transcription discs that the previous owner made bespoke sleeves for. Here are 9 more. These sleeves are not prints. The last four have collage elements, but the Jelly Roll’s are entirely hand painted.

I owned this for years without playing it, then eventually discovered it had the wrong record inside. Found another copy and it turns out to have a surprisingly nice version of "Black Is The Colour of My True Love's Hair" on... youtu.be/DETpiVH4_yY

Very poor audience etiquette, you're only meant to clap at the end of a piece 😠
I found this one www.youtube.com/shorts/Xn4HX...
Not a huge Beatles fan, but grew up listening to this, Rubber Soul and Sgt Pepper's. Never knew about the Red/Blue comps until much later. Parents also had Please Please Me but that's pretty shit imo, and the Magical Mystery Tour double EP...

I should re-read Ray Bradbury, read sci-fi almost exclusively when young and loved his stuff (not so much the horror/weird Mexican ones I probably didn't understand). Can't find the text online, but there's a similar depressing theme in Ward Moore's "The Flying Dutchman" written around the same time
A few weeks ago I realized that tomorrow is the date the Ray Bradbury story “There Will Come Soft Rains” takes place. It’s a shame science fiction from 75 years ago isn’t relevant anymore
Thanks for posting that Cleo Laine version, great stuff! I would relegate BNH down to a sorry third after this inspired take: youtu.be/fggXs7oIP7Q?...

Only have been about three records I've ever regretted selling, and that Guerillas on King is one of them. Was only going for about 20 or 25 quid when I sold it. It's not amazing but it's an unusual kind of folky sound
