Hey George? How much do rent, food, gas and (in the case of Americans) healthcare cost when adjusted for inflation? Have they gone up at the same rate George?
George Pearkes@peark.es · 4mo agoThis is a rehash of the vibecession debates but median household income adjusted for inflation hit a record in 2024 (2025 data will be released in September). It’s just *not true* in any objective sense that people don’t have money anymore. It may *feel* that way but that’s different from reality.
Household median income can go up as much as it wants, but if food, rent, and gas go up just as much (if not more) than what does it matter? You still don't feel like you have any money

I have two trans partners. I remember when one of them was using the phrase "transwomen" early in our relationship and I pointed out "I've been told its trans-women" She looked at me for a second and said "that seems like a silly thing to get caught up on". Anyway, don't know why I thought of that

Canadian here. I was in 10th grade, and on the day it happened we propped a CRT computer monitor on top of a Pentium 3 tower and watched MSNBC for a solid hour, until our internet crashed. After that, it never directly impacted my life outside of macro-scale geopolitics. No recruiters or anything
