Broken on GE-Proton11-1 again. This is not a complaint about GE-Proton. GE-Proton10-34 is actually the only reasonably recent wine build where Warcraft 3 actually works. Not proton or wine-staging, just GE-Proton10-34.

Works again after a Proton-GE update but it's still tiring. This has to be like the 3rd or 4th time it has stopped working. Yes, native Linux games may also fail to work when updating dependencies or drivers, but at least that happens very rarely.

B-stock sales are so disappointing. Yea that laptop wasn't cheap when it was new. But it's a possibly pre-owned laptop with a 12 year (!!!) old CPU. And you want 282,99€ for it? Are stores *that* desperate to not sell any hardware for actually cheap no matter how old it is?

On this train there's a young child getting her brain cooked by youtube kids the entire way from Frankfurt to Bruxelles. Older people have always complained about the habits of the young but I can't help but feel that this is different and that brainrot content is genuinely hazardous to our brains.

Can @deutschebahn.com maintenance maybe make sure that the ICE train onboard electronics don't produce obnoxiously loud noise for hours on end? It seems to be quite common in the door areas, less in the seating area, but trains are quite often full enough that people are there too.

I think not enough people realize that just having a genuine interest and a couple of months time to sink into certain niches can make you uniquely qualified. If you are in university or just graduated, then is the perfect time to just start hacking on something that nobody else has touched yet.

NieR Automata genuinely might be one of the most important game releases of all time explicitly because of how it directly inspired DXVK, yes. www.digitaltrends.com/computing/ni...

Wanted to look up my @deutschebahn.com Bahncard number and... wtf? No way around this such as email confirmation code or such? So if I wanted to buy a ticket online now I guess I... just wouldn't? I get neglecting physical infrastructure, but even digitally turning people away for no reason?

Tried starting Warcraft 3 in Lutris, stuck on the pre-menu screen. Made a new prefix and installed via battle.net and Warcraft III Reforged scripts from lutris. No change. I might actually be done with the last non-native game I still played out of nostalgia. That's why I only buy native games now.

5 new VR games for Linux on @itch.io since the Godot XR jam - all just apk files again. Is it really not possible to hardcode in the store that a .apk file is only for android?

What could the google ai studio website possibly be doing to use 170% CPU and 6GB ram, being idle in the background? CPU usage stops once the tab is focused.

screenshot of about:processes, showing the google ai studio tab using 6 gb memory and 170% cpu

Big kudos to Baldur's Gate 3 for being one of the first big games in a long time to make a native linux version (for the steam deck). I'm definitely enjoying it on desktop linux (I use arch btw) but tbh it feels somewhat unfinished. Spoilers for the first few hours ahead:

I'm beginning to consider just waiting for the next GPU generation that (hopefully) has a regular 32gb+ GPU instead of overpaying for the R9700 after.. how many months until it actually will be sold?

Just had the revelation that I actually need to close the paypal account I've been using for 15+ years now and so I did. The "Close your account" button on the account settings does not work, even after manually cancelling all Automatic Payments.

I don't see any other reports of firefox permanently spinning on challenges.cloudflare.com. When I click the profiler thingy I see mentions of bitwarden and dark reader. So am I the only one who permanently got their fan running noisily and their room heated up even more in the summer?

This is what you see every time you go to maps.google.com with Ubuntu Touch. Hey google, what is an "intent"? Not only is it obnoxious to immediately try to redirect anyone from the website to some app, it's also completely useless here. At least you *can* cancel this.
