Here is my best Habermas story. I am grad student waiting in LONG line for Habermas talk. There is a tall man waiting in front of me. Line moves so we are eventually visible to organizers, a woman looks over & makes horrified face. Runs out: "Prof Habermas! You don't have to wait in line!"
Our work now on its final version. We mapped the mechanical properties of roots at tissue and single cell levels using Brillouin microscopy and molecular rotors. Additional mutants and stress measurements from what we previously showed in the preprint are included. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
The mechanical properties of Arabidopsis thaliana roots adapt dynamically during development and to stress
Brillouin microscopy reveals in vivo dynamics of mechanical properties during plant development and response to stress.

THIS My colleagues's hesitation to retire from academia is driven by fear of not having anything to do so we need visionary deans/presidents to start programs like this and other mentoring initiatives PS: not me though, I have a list & can't wait to start the next act of my life outside academia😀

Coping with stress: Transcriptional regulators linking cell wall integrity maintenance with primary-wall metabolism in Arabidopsis thaliana
Cell wall damage (CWD) and hyperosmotic stress elicit both distinct and overlapping transcriptional programs in plants. Responses to these stresses involve cell wall integrity (CWI) maintenance, which...

How a humble weed became a superstar of biology
Arabidopsis thaliana was always an unlikely candidate for the limelight. But 25 years ago, the diminutive thale cress launched the botanical world into the molecular era.

For herd immunity against measles, 92-95% of the population must be vaccinated. As a live vaccine MMR can’t be given to pts who are immune suppressed (including pts receiving chemo/radiation or immunosuppression) And it’s not effective in newborns. So if you CAN get it, we REALLY need you to.
