I think the simple truth about the AI bubble is that, in the case of OpenAI Anthropic, both say they “train” models and spend billions on “training“ that will somehow have an endpoint, when in reality, training models is a never-ending opex. On an economic level, inference and training are the same.

To me, today was pretty similar to Villa. That game wasn’t a reason to completely panic in the same way that this isn’t one to get overly excited about. We’re doing some good things and have set pieces in our locker but there’s lots we could be doing better. I think it’s been a solid enough start.

If Google would be an honest business, they would charge more for customers who are using their AI features / offer an “AI addon” to turn them on or keep them turned off. This is how you build subpar products and use platform lock in to raise prices with features customers do not even use.
Google is raising my Google Workspace pricing claiming all the “AI value” added. I turned off Gemini in Gmail and Docs because it just doesn’t work / do anything useful for me. So why am I being charged more? Having costs b/c of AI is not the same as generating value with AI…
Was wondering why every big tech company CEO and exec is SO “all-in” on AI. I think I now understand why: It’s their job to NOT miss a massive tech wave that COULD change the industry. When you see a big wave: the harm of being too optimistic is less than being too pessimistic.
