How has the Cascadian dream stayed alive so long? Why, because the Otherworld has kept it that way. The creatures there are rooted in the ley of the land, guided by the natural order of the Earth, for the ichor of life is water. Of course, it was not always called the Otherworld, now, was it?

Mental health is such a strange and complex thing. I have felt pretty powerful over the past year — more so than in my life before — but this weekend I have kind of just been in a slump. Maybe my mood stabilizer needs a little tweaking; who knows? I need more good old-fashioned society in my day.

I once wrote a Post-Self inspired spin-off called Commune that featured an anarchist society built in the wake of borders collapsed by the open-source invention of teleportation. Also you could merge your consciousness to varying degrees with like your polycule or your (post-capitalist) coworkers.

Observe the perisystem architecture. Note its palpable refrain. It exists one degree of remove from you, from the world. It is something outside, beyond. It exists in the numinous, some cerebral access terminal you can neither see nor feel. Observe the System. It is the world, our dream.

It is a tiny bit frustrating seeing Post-Self described as "cyberpunk", given that it is both decidedly not cyber and decidedly not punk. If it is anything related to the genre, it is post-cyberpunk: optimistic, idealistic, hopeful that it is possible for a society to be essentially good.
