Here is the now-deleted(!) audio of acting Attorney General Todd Blanche pledging that the Trump administration will end telemedicine prescriptions of abortion pills nationwide

Muppet Queen, Recovering Lawyer (It’s an honorary title the Order Muppets came up with. The Chaos Muppets would never tolerate a real monarchy. So we compromised on an anarcho-syndicalist federation with a symbolic head of state for the fancy parties etc.)
Lost in the chatter about Todd Blanche and Trump's slush fund is the fact that anti-abortion Senators have demanded Blanche do a whole mess of things for them. The judiciary committee votes Tuesday morning. We're in the danger zone
In the past month, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee have asked Todd Blanche to: *review DOJ's stance on the Comstock Act, a law antis claim bans all abortions *force FDA to end abortion pills via telehealth to settle a lawsuit *fan flames about abortions later in pregnancy this is all Bad News
“Here’s a radical thought: what if migration is only a problem to those who want it to be? What if we started seeing the mass movement of people less as an existential threat and more as a simple inevitability of human existence?”
Ceuta was a carnival of anti-migrant content for hateful opportunists on the right – and a lesson for the left | Jonathan Liew
It was framed as a perfect storm because nativists dearly wanted it to be. Looking on, progressives failed to meet the moment too, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Liew

The Senate is considering a bill that would empower the federal government to spy on customers at retail locations across the country. This isn’t about countering theft, it’s about getting our data and aiding the Trump administration’s deportation campaign. Tell your Senators to vote NO.
Don't Give DHS More Power to Spy on Us
Congress is trying to give DHS and ICE more power to spy on us, all disguised as a "shoplifting" bill: CORCA would let federal agencies track anyone shopping at stores in our neighborhoods. Mass surveillance does not keep us safe. Stop CORCA now.

It’s important to understand “age verification” and “kick the kids off social media” laws as a gift to Big Tech. These policies allow surveillance capitalism to chug along full steam ahead and let Silicon Valley giants off the hook. Instead of regulating their biz model, we just put up age gates
Just called Markey, who is on this committee. Call!
‼️ALERT: KOSA is moving next week to the Senate Commerce Committee for markup! Call your reps today, again tomorrow, and all weekend leaving messages opposing this dangerous censorship bill. www.badinternetbills.com

BLUESKY - WE NEED YOUR HELP! We’re trying to get AI facial recognition tech banned at venues. We’ve got hundreds of artists who’ve pledged to boycott venues that use this tech & we’re shifting into high gear to get hundreds more!
This was fun! Do join us, won’t you?
Canvassing in rental towers has been super fun, because I am getting to meet long-term tenants who will directly benefit from the anti-renoviction bylaw. Join us! This Friday, we are having a canvass and patio social: www.troster2026.ca/shifts
Am I the only one who keeps thinking it’s the US Mutant Ninja Turtles?
Called/emailed my Mass lawmakers on this. Bay Staters, hope you will too!
Overall, we just need people in MA to keep speaking up about this! We've moved mountains, it seems like we have averted catastrophe. But we can't let up now. Reskeet this! Keep calling your legislators & tell them to address the concerns of human rights advocates! stoponlineidchecks.org/ma
The FCC is demanding certain ABC stations file license renewals earlier than they're otherwise scheduled to in apparent retaliation for Jimmy Kimmel's jokes about the Trump administration. Help us flood the FCC with comments objecting to this attack on freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

This is such a neat piece that opens up a lot of interesting and very practical conversations. (And a great site!)

This is so much of the experience of being a US citizen in Canada right now. Y’all need to stop being smug; at the end of the day, this is still a Taco Bell.

Taylor & Travis made the right decision to flip the off switch at their wedding because facial recognition tech is DANGEROUS. We're asking them & other artists to pledge against playing at venues using this tech because it exposes many vulnerable fans. www.banfacialrecognition.com/venues/
Ban Facial Recognition at Live Events

“I am weary of the oft-made claim that what ICE and CBP are doing is not ‘immigration enforcement,’ as if that would be a good reason to have armed troops descending upon cities, suburbs, highways, and places of business…“ thank you @jesspish.bsky.social

Ironically, France's government did a study several years ago that found there was no safe or technically feasible way to mandate online age verification without massively expanding surveillance and eviscerating online privacy. They decided to do it anyway.
France just became the first nation in Europe to ban teens from social media and, you guessed it, they’re forcing everyone to upload their ID’s for social media access in order to enforce it. www.bbc.com/news/article...
Good example of how the US hates public housing until you put bars on the windows
When Joseph Williams refused to leave the public park where he has lived for years, he was charged with a felony for camping and spent nine days in jail. He's from East Nashville, a historically Black community that has rapidly gentrified over the last 2 decades and lost many of its Black residents
Grassroots resistance to these top-down draconian bans are what is going to lead to overturning them. Many of these trans athletes have built communities with their team members and these teams don't want to be told they can no longer play with their friends.
Delighted to canvass with @arieltroster.com yesterday - good conversations! Ariel is one of the most impressive public servants I’ve ever met - and I’ve met a bunch.
We had a great time canvassing in the Golden Triangle tonight, lots of conversations about ending chronic homelessness, building safer cycling infrastructure and ensuring equitable snow removal on urban streets. Want to join our campaign to build a better city? Sign up at www.troster2026.ca/shifts

It's so wildly out of touch. It guts me that this guy was the better option. Cuz he really was. But boy is he closing that gap as fast as he can, at the price of the literal air we're breathing.
Genuinely losing my mind watching Carney's announcement today. Canada is burning, our prime minister says we can't afford climate action, and today he ANNOUNCES MORE DEFENCE SPENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear there’s a part of I-81 where, not long after entering the US, within a few minutes through a dizzying number of town signs including driving in and out of “Town of Parish” twice and briefly through “Town of Mexico” and every time I thought I was entering a damn fugue state.
