I've said it before and I'll say it until the heat death of the universe: KEEP YOUR CATS INSIDE. They kill EVERYTHING. If that's not enough, do it for your own cat's health. Parasites, birds of prey, dogs, coyotes, cars, and other cats are all threats. Save the local ecosystem, save your cat.
I was very excited to get these photos of a cat killing one of my neighbor chipmunks, knowing that I could use them for science communication/future presentations. I put them on iNat (like all my wildlife photos) and an author team writing a monograph on native mammals wants to include the photos!
