We wrote a review 📖 on hydathode immunity! Learn how bacteria exploit hydathodes to access the vasculature and open questions for future research. 📣 If you are curious about this topic, please consider applying for two open positions in my lab (until Nov23)! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Hydathodes at the forefront of plant immunity against vascular pathogens

Hydathodes are tiny plant organs that form an interface between the leaf surface and xylem vasculature. They facilitate excretion of xylem fluid under…

Huanglongbing causes crop damage worth $10 billion annually, and most trees die within a few years once infected. This week in a new Science study, researchers report that they have developed therapeutic peptides that may be able to save and revive infected citrus trees. scim.ag/4jtM8dC

Huanglongbing (HLB)—also called citrus greening—is a devastating bacterial disease of citrus trees spread by the Asian citrus psyllid. HLB causes crop damage worth 10 billion US dollars annually, and most trees die within a few years once infected. Researchers have uncovered a resistance mechanism against HLB and developed therapeutic peptides that may be able to save and revive infected citrus trees.

Check out our new study! We show that Arabidopsis uses the EDS1-SAG101-NRG1 node to trigger rapid yet contained cell death. Key finding: NRG1C variant regulates this process by competing with functional NRG1s. Amazing collaboration between Jijie Chai and Parker Labs. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
