Seonghwa has hit a rough patch. All alone in a new city and living in the huge empty house his parents graciously provided him, depression has crept in and left the alpha a shadow of his former self. He has no idea what he wants for his life, but he knows it isn’t this.

One chance meeting with a sharp tongued omega is all it takes to upend his entire world and land him with seven new friends who start to give him the kind of purpose he’s been looking for – except that this group of ‘friends’ is on the cusp of becoming something far more.

And maybe Seonghwa has joined at just the right time.

Also known as: The one where Seonghwa is a disaster who somehow finds seven even bigger disasters to look after, Hongjoong gets everything he wants laid at his feet and promptly shuts down, Mingi is struggling to leave the house, and Yunho is teetering on the edge of burnout. Meanwhile, Yeosang doesn’t know his worth, Wooyoung desperately wants to be wanted, San is remarkably well adjusted considering what he’s been through, and Jongho is just fine – really.

"I was…" Yunho says quietly. "I guess, I was hoping we could be friends?" He smiles, bashful. "You smell like fresh cut grass in summer. It's really… nice."

Wooyoung's ears fall back, flat. His eyes go wide. He didn't know that. Nobody has ever… no other dog hybrids have ever…

The first real thing Wooyoung feels after the numbness, he doesn't understand. But it pulls at something inside him and makes him breathe deep on purpose, leaning toward Yunho. He smells… like autumn wind. Warm and quiet.

"Other dogs never want to be friends with me." Wooyoung says quietly. Yunho's head tilts, ears flopping, brows pulling together.

"Why not?" He asks.

"Because… I'm a winner." Wooyoung says, his chest tight. "Top dog."

"There's nothing to win, in here." Yunho smiles again, shrugging, after a beat of quiet.

"Except for the hearts of sick children and old ladies. The old ladies are all mine, but I bet the kids will love you. Your eyes are interesting, and you're cute. They'll be all over you!"
