When you take into account Mexico’s record, the altitude, the manager’s frankly awful squad selection, the puss-weak, inconsistent ref, the red card… that may be England’s greatest knock-out win of my lifetime. Pickford, Guehi, Rice, Gordon, Bellingham, even Spence, all 10 out of 10.

Good performance in these circumstances. Worried about the ref, who is out of his depth (just like the ref from the DR Congo game). The Rice booking was a poor decision and the ‘foul’ by Saka for their goal was non-existent. Maybe we can get King Charles to ring Infantino to get them overturned.

Was never a foul for that free kick. Ref seems a bit overawed.

Blame Pickford all you want but the defence in front of him - particularly the right hand side - is an absolute shambles and that’s totally on Tuchel.
