🏴 Having decided to replace my 10 year old NAS last year, I was put off by the cost of Nvme & the non-availability of large HDDs due to the data centre boom. Not so any longer - the last week or so has seen a tide of (discounted) computer components suddenly become available. Is the boom over?
🏴 A form of UK break up, starting with a united Ireland, seems increasingly inevitable. Taking devolution further, a Federal Britain, akin to the German model, seems viable.Simply swapping Capitals/Flags is not for me, but enfranchising taxing & governance at a local level - that, I'm interested in.
🏴 www.thegrocer.co.uk/news/tesco-t... Novelty aside, the "Emperor's New Clothes" aspect to such innovation is worrisome.
Tesco trials 6.5ft-tall aisle-roaming robot that spots gaps on shelves
Tesco said the robots help spot gaps on shelves, so staff can better boost availability.

🏴 truelayer.com/blog/payment... for US users Wero is an EU alternative to Visa/Mastercard/Paypal thats just moving into core use, whilst "Pay by Bank", is a gestating UK alternative. Why? Recent financial isolation of ICC staff pose the need for safe & secure non-US based financial intermediaries.
TrueLayer: We don’t need another Wero: building on Pay by Bank
Pay by Bank means we already have the foundations for an alternative to cards, but we do need better retail payments infrastructure.

🏴 The May 2026 Senedd elections were an event that keeps on giving 🤣
Revisiting literary classics...updated, of course
Wes Streeting supports the Cass Report and Palantir's UK govt contracts. Either he lacks the critical thinking skills to evaluate the evidence/arguments against them, or he ignores these things for ideological or other reasons. Either one makes him unfit to be PM in my view. (Not going to debate it)
Utter madness that this is tolerated. Democracy is dying in its feet..
🏴 Today, I do wonder just how much influence Palantir has on UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting .......
🏴 To Note that English results are FPTP whilst 🏴 & 🏴 are PR (political experimentation yay). So the latter will give a better % view. At the moment - it's bad but not "the end of the world".
🏴 After reverting to Google Web Search on my PC & laptop a few months ago I've moved to Duck Duck Go (AI disabled in "settings") & Mojeek on Android. I'm finally getting sane search results (& a 2nd opinion) on the move.....
Here's hoping Orban, Pooty & Chump ALL lose!!! 👎 👎 👎 #I_HaveA_VeryGoodFeelingAboutThis

news.sky.com/story/why-is... 🏴 Sky's comically simplistic narratives that either include (Ukraine) or exclude (Iran) NATO, ignore basic logistics & essentially insult the viewers grasp of military procurement, have little relevance in today's age of information. It's TV for the >65-90 demographic.

WAR CRIME BY THE US. An unarmed Iranian ship was takIng part in an Indian naval exercise, alongside the US. The US withdrew and torpedoed the Iranian ship. THEN the US refused to rescue the sailors, letting them drown. This is treachery, cowardice, cruelty and a war crime of the highest order.
This is the man who is now in charge of US Homeland Security.

I'm not a fan of regimes like Maduro's but grown-ups appreciate that flouting international law has its consequences - including its copycats, particularly within olde worlde "spheres of influence". Taiwan must be sh****ng itself today.
🏴 (2xdays on from a follow-up NHS Wales cataract Op) Watching Netflix, Apple TV & Disney+. A time to give, thanks for publicly funded medical care, & last rites to a moribund UK broadcast media. Going to surface in 2x days or so, nothing of note happening here at the moment.
21st century Britain where it's illegal to project an image on a wall but not illegal to supply weapons to mass murdering genocidal psychopaths
It's odd that a punk band chanting 'Death to the IDF' is an international outrage, but actually killing 50,000 civilians is fine.
