This week's #showmeyourknits wants knitting firsts for the new year. I unceremoniously present my first ever FO, a scarf I knit when I was about 7 years old. It's no wonder I didn't pick up the needles again for decades 😂🧶#knitsky Also, thanks Mom for saving this for me 🤗

A short handknit scarf knit by a child. The scarf is cream and has a few bands of pastel variegated yarn at each end. There are several holes and loose strands. Another photo of the handknit scarf which showcases some mysterious increases (or is it decreases?) somewhere in the middle.

Today, we remember the fourteen young women whose lives were stolen at Polytechnique Montréal 36 years ago. Their names are a solemn reminder of the devastating toll of gender-based violence — and the responsibility that comes with our remembrance.

Just got in from a ❄️sno-ccer❄️ game. CPL finals being played in 10s of cm of snow. We lasted 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Watching the end of the game from the warmth of our living room. Go Atletico go!!

Great theme this week for #showmeyourknits: knits that bring JOY 🎉 or knits to CARE 💕 for others! My most joyful knit was fruits and veggies for my kiddos. For knits to show care, this table full of hats was knit by my knitting group for our annual gift for female refugees newly living in Canada. 🧶

A plate covered in various knit fruits and vegetables. Two dozen hand knit hats laid out on a table with a black table cloth.
