ICE murdered Renée Good in broad daylight. Less than 3 weeks later, they killed Alex Pretti, shooting him 10 times. Every day, we watch as people are ripped from their cars, their homes, their lives. We can't allow ourselves to look away from this cruelty. Abolish ICE.

Im so tired of having the political equivalent of Charlie Brown trying to kick a football fighting the modern day Nazi party. If this version of Democrats were in charge in the 40s, the US would have sent hundreds of sternly worded letters instead of entering WWII

Yes, its tough to refute all the garbage that is spewed in a tweet but that's also the job. 100+ characters won't distill every talking point and attention spans are tiny but this is our democracy. The written word defined it in its infancy and needs to defend it now.

I wrote a 2,500-word post of the kind of fact-checking people who claim to be journalists should do if they want to disseminate Trump's tweets. Here's just a fraction of what it looks like. www.emptywheel.net/2025/07/16/a...

The 51 former spooks lied. The former spooks did not lie in real time — they expressed an opinion that the emails published by Rudy Giuliani had the earmarks of a Russian information operation and substantiated the reasons for that opinion with a number of true reasons. And some of the people who signed the letter say they still believe the Hunter Biden laptop — the packaging up of all the records on one laptop — could an information operation. Nothing in the Hunter Biden prosecutions disproves that — the FBI never validated the laptop, never did an index of what was on it and when it got added. Indeed records prosecutors themselves submitted suggest that the copy of a laptop that John Paul Mac Isaac shared with Rudy did not match the laptop as it was earlier shared with the FBI.

The 51 former spooks “swore” the laptop came from Russia. The 51 spooks did not swear the laptop came from Russia. They wrote an unsworn letter asserting that it had the earmarks of Russian involvement, even stating “we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement.”

Dems created that story. Again, Trump is misstating the Democrats’ role here. Dems definitely were behind the writing of the letter (though with the involvement of non-partisan spooks). But Rudy was the guy who — after soliciting help from alleged Russian intelligence agents over the course of a year — released the files in such a way that they could not be verified.

The laptop came from Hunter Biden’s bathroom. This allegation, like a recent claim Trump has made that the laptop came from Hunter’s bedside, doesn’t match the known facts but is very interesting nonetheless. The stated provenance of the laptop shared with John Paul Mac Isaac is that Hunter Biden dropped it off and JPMI offered it up to the FBI. But there is another laptop — the one Keith Ablow sat on for a year — that did c…

“In a saner time, that alone — even if no executive order or blatantly lawless action followed — would be a presidential scandal, revealing a commander in chief with nothing but contempt for the First Amendment, baseline constitutional values, and his own people.”

We have forgotten the lessons from Hiroshima and Nagasaki and I fear that we will soon have to relearn them the hard way - through first hand experience. Its unfortunate and sad that we are unable to learn from the past and therefore are doomed to repeat it

We’ve truly lost our way in this country. An 80-year-old vet who fought for this country just got arrested protesting Trump‘s parade. He deserves respect, not handcuffs.
