"So you're saying you have all the basic features of a male, but they're rough, uncoordinated, and not guaranteed to work?"
When men refer to themselves as "alpha males", I hear that in the context of software, where alpha versions are unstable, missing important features, filled with flaws, and not fit for the public.

We keep giving AI the fun jobs (coding, writing, making art) while we are stuck with the shit jobs (laundry, code reviews, resolving merge conflicts) what a disaster
So many times I see unsorted lists that are a pain to navigate or best case just puzzling. Thank you, @hilton.org.uk, for this writeup! hilton.org.uk/blog/sort-ev...

ChatGPT advocates, please understand: many times when people ask you a question, it is because they are valuing your experience and perspective. Essentially, you are part of their community. When you answer with a ChatGPT screenshot, you are telling them that they are not a part of yours.
One of my favourite things on social media is when a man (yes, it's always a man) severely underestimates someone (usually a woman) and gets schooled accordingly. The comments are *chefs kiss* This is right up there withthe dude calling out Gail Simone, the Punisher writer.
“Courtney Milan clerked for the 9th Circuit and the Supreme Court before publishing her first historical romance novel, and even worked for a time as a law professor before becoming a full-time writer.”
Can’t wait to return to @kcdc.bsky.social in August! This conference sets a high bar for community, learning, and hospitality—thanks to truly wonderful organizers and a welcoming crowd. Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones in Kansas City, MO www.kcdc.info #KCDC2025

Making Software Like LEGO: How Aspire Brings the Pieces Together
Recently Andrej Karpathy posted about the reality of building web apps in 2025. His point was simple: it’s not really about writing code…

1/This one's for my fellow #developers. Let's talk about Entity Framework; if you have the option to use Dotnet Core/EF for your business logic/data layers - including Postgres/MySQL on Linux - you really should take a hard look. EF + Linq gives you an amazing degree of control over your data.

I have 64 GB of RAM, yet I cannot leave the computer overnight without coming back to a message about some program being killed because memory was too low and I basically have to restart to get a working machine again...
If you think using GenAI to increase how fast your developers can write code, you should probably return your copy of "The Goal" and use the refund to buy a lottery ticket.
You should definitely put in a talk for JavaZone! It's a fantastic conference and a great place to both inspire and be inspired. And while you're at it, submit to #HelloStavanger as well! www.hellostavanger.no

I've often hesitated to join podcasts despite frequently speaking at conferences, possibly due to the format difference. It's time to try something new! I'll be recording with @davidgiard.bsky.social's Technology and Friends podcast this Tuesday. Check it out here: www.youtube.com/@technologya....

I'm not part of #academicSky, but I think it's seriously cool that BlueSky enables people building things like this!
*Please repost* @sjgreenwood.bsky.social and I just launched a new personalized feed (*please pin*) that we hope will become a "must use" for #academicsky. The feed shows posts about papers filtered by *your* follower network. It's become my default Bluesky experience bsky.app/profile/pape...
That's a new scam/spam. Just sending me a contract to sign on Upwork. Which seems to be a garbage platform that let's people send proposals to anyone with zero ways to report or block.
Holy memory hog, Batman! Why on earth does the JetBrains Rider plugin GitHub Copilot's "Language Server" use between two and four GB of RAM? The VS Code version is nowhere near that consumption...
Sometimes, the music hits just right when I'm at the gym. Such as today, when Emily Armstrong screamed THIS IS WHAT YOU ASKED FOOOOOOOOOR in my ears on the last deadlift.
This is absolutely going to happen. "My heart goes out to you" bullshit dogwhistle.
Prediction: the Nаzi salute will become common within 2 years. RWers will half-аss it for plausible deniability, memeify the backlash, then start fully doing it "as a joke" "to troll the libs" "for being hysterical enough to think we were doing it in the first place"
Attributing management failures to generational differences is the manager-bro equivalent of astrology and horoscopes.
