ICYMI Ryan Schlipp aka pack_daddy of the Packernet Podcast was sentenced to 3 years in prison this week for possession of child porn (which he plead guilty to). Dawn and Matt have done an awesome job the last 2 weeks covering the specifics of the legal stuff. Go support them 🫶
Whole lotta crime talk this week. Dawn did another bang-up job talking about Schlipp’s trial, this time covering the sentencing. We touched on Jacobs’ situation, as well. But also, shout-outs like always! Give it a listen! www.youtube.com/live/ctkBKt3...

Ask Maggie: Is Banana Spice the sixth Spice Girl? #Packers #GoPackGo
Ask Maggie: Is Banana Spice the sixth Spice Girl?
I don’t “Wannabe” dramatic, but we are so close to the start of the regular season. Roster cutdowns have to be made before Sunday’s deadline. That’s crazy. What’s also crazy? I thought you all might want to talk about the Packers Rivalries jerseys. On the record, I will be buying one. Now let’s jump into your questions. “While #1 is out, will he be on the sidelines cheering/coaching teammates? Start. Sit. Cut. Pumpkin spice, Banana spice (I hear that’s a thing now), Zero spice.” - Steward I’m not sure about that! I would imagine Micah Parsons will want to be as involved as possible as he gears up for his return. He may be in a suite some games, and other games maybe he’ll be on the sidelines. I don’t think he’ll travel with the team, so he won’t actually have too many home games to plan for until his (hopeful) return against Dallas in Week 6. When you say zero spice, are we talking about spice as in like, the Scoville scale? Because I enjoy spicy food. So I’m not sure I want to live with zero spice forever. I would start pumpkin spice, sit zero spice, and then cut banana spice. What the heck is banana spice? Okay. Upon further review (of the internet), banana spice cake sounds kind of good. But, I’ll stand by my decision. What did plain old banana bread do to hurt anyone’s feelings? Why does it need to be spiced? Sometimes I “spice” my banana bread up with chocolate chips and walnuts. Now that’s getting kind of crazy. Okay. You distracted me. Next question. “Who is the bubble player you are most rooting for to make the roster?” - Tony This is tough because I’m not sure if he counts as a bubble player anymore. I would have said Kamal Hadden at the start of training camp, but now I think he’s going to be a legitimate role player on defense before the season is over. So I would, at this point, call him a lock for the 53-man roster. I’ve really enjoyed watching Pierre Strong Jr. this training camp. I think he’s been the most impactful back in the room behind MarShawn Lloyd and at this point is deserving of that RB3 spot. He’s shown flashes not only in the running game, but also on special teams, and we all know that any little spark there matters right now for this unit. So I guess I’ll take Strong as the player I’m rooting for, since I think Hadden is more of a lock at this point and Strong still has competition with Chris Brooks, who may have a leg up as the incumbent. “Hey Maggie! With training camp all but complete (minus the Cardinal game) do you get the feeling that some of our questions going into camp remain unanswered coming out? It still seems like O-line, CB, and pass rush without Micah are still puzzles waiting to be solved. One could argue backup QB could be on the list as well. Do you feel any (or even all?) have been solved? Thanks!” - Jim I will say that I feel slightly better about the offensive line and cornerbacks, but the jury’s still out on the edge room. Jager Burton and Jacob Monk both having strong camps helped me feel more comfortable about the state of the o-line in terms of what depth exists. That gives the Packers a solid seven to work with, as much as we all hate to see musical chairs along the offensive line. John Williams has also been a pleasant surprise so far after missing basically his entire rookie season. The cornerback room intrigues me in a good way. Brandon Cisse is going to make it really hard for the Packers to not start him Week 1. He’s looked like an NFL cornerback and had an excellent camp and preseason. I’ve also liked what I’ve seen out of Benjamin St-Juste. The depth is solid behind Keisean Nixon, even if he’s still locking down a starting job right away. We also just talked about how much I adore Kamal Hadden, so he gives me additional reasons to be optimistic about the state of the CB room. The pass rush, though, gives me pause. I have been optimistic in this mailbag about the jumps I expect Barryn Sorrell and Collin Oliver to make. It’s hard to glean too much from the preseason alone, but the pressure just hasn’t been there from the unit as a whole. Now, Jonathan Gannon has gotten creative all camp sending his DBs on blitzes, and those have seemed to get home. It might just be an “all hands on deck” kind of effort until Parsons is back in action. He was never a player that was going to be easily replaceable, anyway. Finally, to address your comment about the backup quarterback role, I’m having a hard time finding too many reasons to go with Tyrod Taylor at this point. I love what he brings to the room in terms of being a consummate pro and a mentor to everyone around him. He’s a locker room leader. But in terms of his production on the field? He’s in decline. While raw, Kyle McCord offers a lot to like and has played well this preseason. If Jordan Love misses extended time. I think this season kind of is what it is for Green Bay. I don’t think Taylor or McCord will go out and win enough games to keep the Packers in playoff contention. So if that’s the case, why not work on developing your long-term backup? That’ll do it for our final mailbag of the preseason! Next time we chat, we’ll have a 53-man roster to discuss and we’ll have our sights set on Week 1 in Minnesota. I cannot believe we’re already almost to September. Enjoy the Cardinals game, everyone! And don’t forget to send your questions to chtvmailbag@gmail.com.
