It's rumoured there was once a government team monitoring all of England's stone and wooden sleepers for signs of omenic twitching. While certain records do suggest that the Department Recording And Measuring Anomalous Statues (DRAMAS) once existed, there's no trace of it now.
Dropped by King's Manor on a flying visit to York. Took some formative classes of my postgrad here (a decade ago now), fell in love with a thermos and learned to read secretary hand.
Two bits of folklore that could arguably only exist in the current historical moment. Magical thinking cheek by jowl with biology, conservation efforts and extreme sports. The rational and the fantastic as complementary modes of experience.
