The Particle Accelerator Group at The University of Melbourne has had a busy couple of months, with members attending several conferences and workshops around Europe. Great work A/Prof Suzie Sheehy, Dr Jacinta Yap, Dr Adam Steinberg and PhD candidates Joel Bellesini, Simon Barg, and Joel Valerian!
We sincerely congratulate our longest-serving staff member, Alan Cooper, on his 80th birthday. Alan has been part of the HIA community for more than 50 years, joining the technical team at HIAF in 1974, providing invaluable support ever since. Wishing you many more wonderful years to come!

This week our professional and technical staff attended the inaugural ACRI conference that brought together Australia's research infrastructure workforce. It was a golden opportunity to swap stories and experiences of working in research infrastructure and to form new connections and collaborations.
Recent visit from Integrated Service Technology (iST), Taiwan, and Foremay, US, focused on capabilities of our Space Irradiation Beamline at #HIAF. Now supported by iST, we can offer semiconductor failure analysis and decapping services to our clients requiring radiation testing.

A big thank you to our ANU Open Day volunteers: Zuzana, Tom, Jack, and Misty. Armed with a classroom Van de Graaff, flying pie tins, and an Anna doll, they demonstrated the principles of static electricity that generate 15 million volts at HIAF and accelerate protons to plutonium. ⚡⚛️ #NCRIS
We are over the moon to work with the historic Roo-ver program. Funded by the Australian Space Agency and delivered by over 20 partners, it's the first lunar rover designed and built in Australia. Program Director Ben Sorensen toured our HIAF node to discuss space radiation testing. #NCRISimpact

When radioactive atoms inside minerals decay, they fire out high energy particles that leave trails of destruction. To investigate this phenomenon, researchers created ion tracks in crystals by bombarding them with 185 MeV gold ions, using our Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility at the ANU💎👩🔬 #NCRISImpact
