It’s not all prehistory here at HER HQ! Trig Points, unassuming and humble little monuments, were the backbone of our National Grid. Each one was carefully positioned so there was a clear line of sight to the next, creating a network that allowed surveyors to map the entire country!

We had a fantastic talk from Alison and Lilja on this exceptional Highland find at last year's HAF Conference- they even brought the replica along! It's amazing what can be preserved in peatlands, and the collaborative research projects that are undertaken to learn about these rare objects.

Are you celebrating the start of Spring today? Early morning sunlight was spilling across Callachy burial cairn, which is sits quietly within a clearing in the woodlands of Learnie Red Rocks MTB trails. With nothing but birdsong for company, it was well worth stepping off the path!
