Doctors say that you should eat a balanced diet that includes whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables. A guy who snorts cocaine off toilet seat seats and doesn’t wipe his ass says you should subsist entirely on sauerkraut and steak. For a busy eaters it can be hard to know who to trust.

I would be willing to bet that the Democratic Party "establishment" understands the struggles of blue collar heartland Americans better than the critics who think that this is all happening because Biden didn't cancel student debt or whatever.

To be clear Sunrise Movement, like a lot of other left-wing youth issue movements, has mostly just achieved its actual purpose of channeling all that energy away from the original issue they cared about and on to bashing any Democrat who has any positive feelings for Israel.

The more fundamental problem for Paxton is that turning out the people he already has is all he knows. He's basically been carried by politicians more popular than him doing the heavy lifting, and right now he doesn't have that. It's more likely he drags down Abbott than that Abbott drags him over

The problem with engaging with MAHA is that you can’t engage them with facts and logic because if they were interested in any of that, they wouldn’t be MAHA.

I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.

And unlike Target and Walmart, they have not opened up their e-commerce platforms to third-party sellers of cheap garbage.
It's truly disturbing that the use case the AI industry has settled on is "interacting with your children." These are genuine sociopaths.

As if the terror and wide-scale publicity of an arrest and federal prosecution is not a horrible punishment in and of itself.
There’s a reason why so many states have passed laws specifically to criminalize teacher-student relationships (which, depending on the student’s age, might not be criminalized by statutory rape laws.)

Now bear in mind a) this was mostly a lie if not always and b) you could leave school at 16.
Elon Musk is infuriating in his own way but everybody knows at least one person, possibly more, whose lifestyle and explanation of how they can afford said lifestyle doesn’t really add up and you’re pretty sure there’s SOMETHING fraudulent going on there.

JLRay@jlray.bsky.social · 7d agoHistorically, Trump's numbers are closer to those of presidents who aren't invited to the next nominating convention than to presidents who get to hand pick the next nominee. Act accordingly.
The media very much wants the narrative to be that the global far right is an unstoppable force because they have their own vested interest in mainstream parties making specific policy commitments to stave off the far right.

It’s because there is an absurd amount of overlap between people who think the Chinese century is imminent and lab leak freaks. The wet market origin actually makes the Chinese government look fuckin’ incompetent and reveals a lot of things about China they’d rather not.

A nonzero number of “center-left” writers I used to respect have basically said they conceptually liked the idea of DOGE and just hated how it was actually done and, like, when you choose to get in bed with people who want “government efficiency” some of them just wanted to break the government!
