At the International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC) 2026 opening, happy to hear such a focus on how we as researchers must adapt with the changing world, must work on our social license to operate, and must find environmental sustainability an opportunity for innovation

I really need to take some vacation, but so many cool sustainability in research events are occurring the week that I'm away. It's tempting to move my vacation week. I won't, but I did think about it.

For-profit companies absolutely should not ever ask employees to volunteer their time. 👏 Outreach and engagement is work 👏 It has so many benefits, especially to the company. Put your money where your mouth is. N.B. this is after a conversation with a friend and not in any relation to my work.

Delays to funding are translating into widespread attrition of early-career researchers across PPAN science. This is not hypothetical, this is happening now. Missing the international deadline has resulted in an effective 100% cut to new theoretical physics postdoc positions in the UK this cycle.

UK particle physics and astronomy are facing “catastrophic” cuts while science spending received a record increase. Documents seen by ⁦‪@BBCNews‬⁩ suggest money has been diverted away to government research areas🧪. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
