Minilla⁷ missing BTS

Maria. 38. BTS fan. Kaiju enjoyer. Was ancomagustd. I block follow farmers so please save us both some time.

Reposting my thoughts here in a slightly edited form from what I posted on reddit in a megathread on the whole situation. The discussion both here and there had been invaluable to me, at least when its been done in good faith and not to belittle others for their feelings on this.

Baby ARMY, do you know why our color is purple ? In 2016, the ARMY bombs didn't changed colors so ARMY created a fan project by wrapping their AB in purple plastic bags, the first purple ocean ever 💜 Then Taehyung and his beautiful mind created "Borahae" - "I purple you" and it's meaning

my probably too nuanced for most take on the Gemini ads, as an AI hater 🧵 The ads tie into their Samsung partnership. That's the AI Samsung has contracted to use in their expensive new devices. Samsung needs people to buy into using Gemini, and is leveraging everything they can to achieve that.

New from 404 Media: we solved which AI company is buying massive shipments of rare books, scanning and destroying them to train AI. We put an Apple AirTag in a rare book, followed it. It ended up at an Amazon facility. Its logo is a dinosaur ripping through a book www.404media.co/we-tracked-a...

We Tracked a Shipment of Rare Books. It Ended at an Amazon AI Training Facility

We placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it, and found an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books.

I'm sorry, I just can't let this go without some kind of acknowledgement. Namjoon posting those stories yesterday felt like a raised middle finger, especially the picture of the ARMY. At the VERY LEAST it was incredibly poor judgement. It's been days now and they've given us nothing.

Ngl it was kind of funny yesterday seeing Indian ARMY flood weverse with AI slop saying "Happy independence day India and South Korea" while Pakistani ARMY posted AI slop saying "Happy Independence day Pakistan and South Korea" and both sides just studiously ignoring each other

here's what she has to say about AI and about the CB situation she's often in the English speaking part of the Internet because she travels a lot for work and speaks it fluently, but as she says most Koreans stay on their part of the Internet (it's the same here with the Spanish part of the intrnt)

Korea has wholeheartedly embraced Al that even the government recently announced they're discussing whether they'll provide youth with free paid se subscriptions to Al platforms to enhance their competence

Olympic gold medalist Yuna Kim filmed an ad for gemini recently and it was a huge hit - that's the level of social prestige and acceptance gemini has locally

Which is not to say Al doesn't have any negative aspects (and ppl can form their own opinions on Al), just that the social acceptance and integration of them is completely different in KoreaAlso he was like the Michael Jackson of male r&b artists back in the day for K-pop male idols so ofc they're gonna have a certain level of happiness finally I meeting their old idol in person

All the Americans and English speaking people automatically assuming just because Namjoon can speak English as a second language means he's out there rawdogging their part of the internet they're on 24/7 having zero awareness or understanding of how little information & sentiments are truly global when there's a language barrier and a cultural difference that naturally orders social priorities differentlyAnd about Chris Brown, yes what he did was apprehensible and there's no denying that but I only know about that because I'm also on english speaking I internet and it's such a huge part of rihanna's story that I know. To assume that everyone knows who Chris Brown is and what he did is ridiculous

I'm just so sad. At this point I'm desperate for any acknowledgement but it's just business as usual. At least I hear hobi and joon didn't repost the cb photo (I don't have insta so idk) and like that's something, at least. Normally they would, right?
