im 28, i have a job || (they/them)

working with the general members of the public has revealed that 80% of people who desperately need glasses and own them choose to NOT wear them when they are in need of heavily text-oriented services

the big assignment thats due on friday is having to make a fairly large 3D sculpture out of cardboard of a cryptid or creature. our project has to hang on the wall. i chose the giant white snake from The Lair of the White Worm; very happy with tonight's progress

a perspective view of the sculpture's skeletonstill in its skeletal state, but viewed face on as if it was on the wallnow paper mache'd with newsprint all over the skeleton, bery snake-like body. clearly used wheatpaste on this

went to my english professor's office hours yesterday and she told me my writing is what she's used to seeing at the graduate level when she taught at Drexel (she has taught many K-12 english teachers how to teach english) so thats nice

one of the things i keep thinking of due to the Cornell rape issue in the news is that at my "all girls" catholic high school, they did have a guy come do a "how to prevent rape" talk to us but he said he had begged the all boys school across the street to have him over too; and the admin refused

there is one (1) cis straight white guy in my english class and as our current focus of discussion is a book whose main argument is that success is about access to opportunities, not solely personal merit, he is one of the only ones constantly insisting "no actually it IS only personal merit"

ive started sometimes having a minor mentorship/role model dynamic with some of my classmates, primarily the guys, which makes me happy. its nice to feel respected and liked by nice (if awkward) young men who clearly are wanting external guidance & encouragement

woman was printing out some sort of cards for a card game and i was being friendly bc i both am and bc i try to be especially so to other trans people and she was rude and made a snide joke about smth i said to her friend. she had a drexel email address and a NJ area code number, it annoyed me

today in english class we were given back a quiz from last week that was 20 questions and the professor said the average grade was getting 10+ out of 20 wrong and there was only one 20/20 and it turns out the only 20/20 was Me :)

i get half an hour for lunch and people get So Offended when i have to say "sorry im on my break", not being rude, just protecting my barely enough time to rest and eat lunch—because theyre asking me for help. its also legally/policy-wise a huge liability for my employer if i work off the clock. ugh

semi phoned it in in drawing class this morning bc i knew ive been the best and most on time student so i could probably get away with not doing sight measuring and going by eye (i was correct)

they were selling jack-o-lantern shaped "pumpkin spice ice cream sandwiches" at the grocery store today. the cookie part was pumpkin spice, the ice cream vanilla. not only are they sooo cute but i tried one and it was Delicious

listen i get the value in being critical of the reactionary positions/rhetoric etc of 'artists' or 'art degree students' and i share that criticism but i gotta say its ridiculous that its become a kind of degree so many people assume involves 0 work. my 2 studios = 2 labs, hours & homework-wise
