Yes, this is a subtweet of the current US. Many people performatively criticize their government, but where are the thousands of people in the streets willing to be beaten/die to change things? They aren't there. Trump knows it. That's why he's doing what he wants, and GOP enables him w/out fear.

Don't align with fascists, even when they seem to be aligned with you temporarily. They never deliver. Because they're actually quite incompetent. A bunch of tech bros finding that out now 🍿

The strength of a democracy in given country is directly proportional to the percentage of the population who are willing to put their body on the line to defend it. Not to be mistaken with the percentage of people who just post about it, but won't actually risk any real consequences to themselves.

Never forget that all this cruelty is *the point*, and *that's why* people voted for him. He didn't trick them. And the country is full of such people who want to see "the others" suffer.

As the Bad Man takes office again, I'm going for a different strategy to 2017. Now, I believe: - things won't change until the people who voted for him absolutely hate him and his party - we must amplify topics that fracture his coalition (H1Bs, etc) - things will get worse before getting better

Call me old-fashioned, but I think we should go back to a 90% marginal tax rate on billionaires.
