Writer. Artist. Improv-er. LDS. Nerdy over TV, movies, music, books. Reader of pulp, comics, and other fun stuff. Lover of things retro and random. Just an artistic nerd trying to be a good person.

One of my favorite podcast subgenres is "thoughtful deep dives into junkfood pop culture," and I'm swiftly falling in love with this one. I've listened to part of one episode (about the commercials), & there's been lots of unironic praise for Jim Varney's acting skill. I love it!

I’ve been reading John Scoleri & Peter Enfantino’s blog in which they rewatch one episode of KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER a day. I had to post this excerpt from a comment Scoleri made because it makes me long for something we don’t have. His SALEM’S LOT series idea sounds great!

One more note on LITTLE BIG LEAGUE: I won’t pretend that I’m an expert (or even super knowledgeable) about baseball; I like the game but I’m barely a novice at best. However, this movie speaks with such a level of confident intelligence that you know it’s getting everything right.

Since the World Series is going on (and because this movie's available on Tubi), here's a shoutout to one of my favorite baseball movies. It seems like it'd be silly, but it respects the sport and it's intelligent about it. The story really draws me in and it has lots of heart!

I’m not saying anything that thousands of film nerds don’t already know, but this is an EXCELLENT film. Five stars in my book, and definitely my favorite film discovery of the year so far!

Talk about a TWILIGHT ZONE episode that’s still relevant today. With AI bros and tech people telling us to get with the times or become obsolete, and with the government devaluing education in arts, philosophy, etc., this particular story rings particularly true (and modern)!

The best Twilight Zone episodes countdown continues with Number 11: In a dystopian future, Burgess Meredith is “The Obsolete Man.”

I started a blog series called “One Good Episode” a while ago, so I could talk about TV shows I liked with a focus on one episode that spoke to me. The series has sat at one entry for a long time, because with one thing and another, I neglected my blog. I’m writing a new entry now, & it feels good!

I was just thinking about THE JETSONS earlier today, and specifically how Sly Stallone uses “Spacely Sprockets” in a mocking way in DEMOLITION MAN. I like that moment a lot!
