It's true! Working with brilliant thinkers and writers like @electrostani.bsky.social is the best part of my job. ✨ If you're on sabbatical this fall, consider partnering with a developmental editor (like me :)). I'd love to talk with you about how I can help you move your project forward.

I do want to give a special shout-out to @halperta.bsky.social who worked with me as a developmental editor. Hannah's feedback and conversation were key in helping me figure out what this book should be *about*. If you're working on a book, consider working with Hannah! halperta.com/categories/m...

So glad to hear that #NEH awards canceled last year will be reinstated soon! For those of you dealing with this, I'm sure the process requires new forms, work plans, or budgets, which can be frustrating. Pls remember that your NEH colleagues are overworked and overwhelmed, too.

🤬 You do not "fill the gap" in archives. You ask *why* the gap is there in the first place. That is where the real information resides. Also: LLMs train on digitized materials. Do you have any idea how little has been digitized? LLMs train on a *sliver* of the human past and human knowledge.

Rebranding a hallucination as a ‘critical confabulation’ that can fill archival gaps is a big no from me.

Reminding myself for no reason that I do this work because I believe in it. Yes, I believe people benefit from and deserve access to education after high school. And yes, I believe in teaching and researching arts, culture, and the humanities.

Sak Pase, New York City!

I’m proud to once again join both Michaël Brun and Council Member Rita Joseph in wishing all the Haitians who call this city home a joyful Haitian Heritage Month.

And to Haiti’s national team: best of luck in the World Cup. Grenadye Alaso!
