Library friends: I'm planning a blog post about negotiating during a job offer. Will you share with me what you negotiated? Or what you wish you would've negotiated? I'd like to give people a sense of the range of things they can ask for. 📚

One thing I have learned in 2026 is that there is little that gives me more joy than getting an advanced copy of a very brilliant person's forthcoming book 📚 makes me feel *smart* and *important* by association
does everyone get one million spam emails addressed to someone named Todd, or have uniquely been tagged as "Todd" in a database somewhere?
This is such a good project and one I've been hoping someone would do for years. Can't wait to read it.
My book is now available for preorder on Bloomsbury's website. If you are affiliated with a university that still believes in the humanities, please consider having your university library order a copy. www.bloomsbury.com/us/harriet-d...

It's true! Working with brilliant thinkers and writers like @electrostani.bsky.social is the best part of my job. ✨ If you're on sabbatical this fall, consider partnering with a developmental editor (like me :)). I'd love to talk with you about how I can help you move your project forward.
I do want to give a special shout-out to @halperta.bsky.social who worked with me as a developmental editor. Hannah's feedback and conversation were key in helping me figure out what this book should be *about*. If you're working on a book, consider working with Hannah! halperta.com/categories/m...

It is very hard to remember, years later, which of my twitter friends were friends and which were parasocial relationships where we never actually interacted and I was just a fan.
1) Traditional Japanese theatre (noh, Kabuki, etc) 2) game design 3) astronomy
If you were to take a class, workshop, or seminar on any subject at all, what would you take? Curious what you all are interested in! And also thinking about my own professional development this morning.

Scholarly folks who have ever received federal funding: today is the deadline for public comment on proposed revisions that will decimate our national research capacity and replace expertise with political whim. Please consider throwing in your 2¢. See below for some useful links and encouragement.

I did not anticipate about letterpress the beauty of how the (non-brand-new, ie the majority of printshop) type has been used by so many others in so many works. Thinking of @halperta.bsky.social's writing on seeing the lineage of one's work in her Finding Your Purpose (halperta.com/shalperta%20...)
Also saw @rommennoodle.bsky.social's & @starshapedpress.bsky.social's lovely prints hung in the studio gallery hall! Really cool knowing/knowing of so many of the folks w/names signed to work hung at Penland—and that this same well-used (positive) type I'm using was used by so many artists I admire

Say it like it is: current conditions of un- and under-employment are specifically hitting the managerial middle class, and especially those of us who work for the public good.
just another morning lost to turning off surprise genAI features in google that are "on" by default.
Ideas for my printing on these vintage telegrams? (Words of hope? Bad puns? I could see customizing these a bit per person as an option, which would take longer but be fun.)
I got a pad of vintage telegrams to print on. Unsent telegrams; messages from the past or future; pangram specimen sheets; serialize something across multiple telegrams; telegram from your pet; interesting real historical telegrams... Ideas?
