Every time my students express admiration for a particular dreamy indie-game creator, I make them pull up their webpage and show them the back catalog of obscure and/or barely finished games on which they rest. I point at that game design "remainder" and ask why they aren't designing *those* rn.
the secret about adventure writing is that it is, imo, maybe even more technical than writing rules or classes. a ttrpg adventure product is not a narrative, it's an instruction manual walking the reader through GMing a session the way the author might, in accordance with the author's sensibilities

Huckleberry is a really great weird west game. Not a setting or a hack of an existing game to make it weird west, but something DESIGNED to be both weird and west. Check it out if that's a type of thing you've been wanting to run.
