He whipped his head around looking for the trail of stones to begin again, only to be met with expansive and impregnable forest surrounding him. He stared at the stone, feeling a laugh bubble up from his throat as he tried to conjure some form of reasons why this name appeared here.

He thought of the way Satoru hadn't taken his eyes off of the forest, seemingly seeing something he hadn't. The way he bitterly spat out the history of church grims and their duties. The mystery of the Parson that people couldn't put their fingers on.

He lowered his lantern, letting his forehead rest against the cool bark of the rowan. A clattering of chains broke him from his musings, a pit of dread forming in his stomach. He hadn't even noticed the sun beginning to fall beyond the horizon.'

i'll spare you from peak fiction (everest fic) for now. instead, here's some #satoshoko for #wipwednesday. i felt like writing gojo being incredibly romantic in that deeply strange and unsettling way of his 🥰 i'm behind schedule for rarepair week but i can do it! probably!

She never sees him coming.

Never sees anyone coming, never has. Years ago, Satoru let his guard down and almost got himself killed, but Shōko clearly hasn’t learned from his mistakes. He could strike her down where she stands right now. He could snuff out her pretty little life in the space between heartbeats, before she has the time to comprehend her own mortality.

It’s a merciful way to die. Peaceful, even.

Satoru prefers scaring the shit out of her, though. He likes the momentary lapse in the whole cool girl thing she’s got going on. He likes seeing her Bambi eyes get all big and brown and beautiful in the split second before her face shutters.

Mostly, he likes feeling her hands on him. He likes giving her the opportunity to slap him, if only to make her smile. He’ll jump out from behind the door frame in a moment or two, but for now, Satoru wants to watch her a little longer.

And what about the fanfics? Suguru’s life isn’t a fanfic, but if it were, this would be the deus ex machina moment. The divine punishment meted out to Suguru for failing to avoid the elevator on this one and only occas—

‘You coming?’

The voice that breaks Suguru’s reverie is like siren song — or perhaps the deadly call of a wolf. Gojō smiles just a little when he adds: ‘Or do you want to get your steps in?’

If he strains his ears, Suguru thinks he can hear the maniacal laughter of an author on a power trip.

With a sigh, he steps into the elevator.
