Apparently I’m doing this now.
“Music publications BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been gutted by parent company Veeps... Nearly all the staff at each publication appear to have been laid off yesterday. Veeps, which is now owned by Live Nation, acquired the publications in 2024 or 2025”
BrooklynVegan, Alt Press Hit With Mass Layoffs
Music publications Revolver and Goldmine have also been gutted by owners Veeps and Live Nation

if I send you these it means I’m quietly but enthusiastically rooting for you behind the scenes

Kayla Thornton playing like she did *not* appreciate that most of us who made up fake Valkyries trade going into the deadline were putting her in the deals. I'm sorry KT! Your team doesn't have many contracts that made things work! #WNBA
It’s really fucking brutal and devastating to see the same thing happening on a regular basis all over but it also feels like there was a degree of “won’t happen here” from some officials in other areas of the country despite warnings that it absolutely would for a long time
I remember a prevailing sentiment in ‘03, like in the national news, skewing a bit “well it’s CA’s fault” and “it’s a fire just put it out.” The scale of loss and of what it means to have an out of control wildfire wasn’t really conceivable to a lot of the country, I think
I don’t really have a coherent point on this but as someone who has experienced wildfires since 2003 it’s really something to see a cultural shift as they become more common in other areas
Would also love to know whether there’s more to this than the linked unsubstantiated tweet. people on IG are starting to flip out even though BrooklynVegan’s socials seem to be business as usual.
Anything about Brooklyn Vegan shutting down other than this? One of the few websites that I still check daily. x.com/IJamEcono/st...

Mike Tomlin walked away from his two-decade streak of never having a losing season as a head coach rather than spend a single additional second with that guy, and any one of us would’ve done the same.
Golden State Valkyries' Veronica Burton (22) hugs Toronto Tempo's Temi Fagbenle (14) after their WNBA game at Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif., on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026. The Golden State Valkyries defeated the Toronto Tempo 96-79. #valkyries #wnba #sports
Veronica Burton crossed Maria Conde all the way up jfc
The thing about Tip Hayes is that on top of being good at basketball she’s also incredibly beautiful and cool.
Obviously still time for things to change, but is 6th Player of the Year just Janelle Salaun and that's it? Who else have you got? #WNBA
You know what’s cool? Sharing links to the original story instead of just a fucking screencap.
busy doing cool things that make me seem cool and maybe even a little bit sexy (?)

My mom is watching the Mercury–Liberty game for some reason and just called me (yes, called) to ask me about #24 on the Mercury, so imagine my delight at getting to inform her that DeWanna Bonner is married to her teammate Alyssa Thomas. The W brings families together, literally and figuratively.
