Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.

"I just felt like nothing had meaning anymore. It was a numbness that took over, and a pain that I couldn’t describe," Hong said in 2023.
Having people talk about this stuff is sometimes how people finally recognize that they need to get help and that it’s not a weakness but instead a strength.

Really good article. There's a whole industry around inflammation in the health adjacent world that has been building for YEARS. I hear more and more chatter about inflammation as the *cause* for everything (as opposed to root causes *resulting* in inflammation), building on nuggets of truth. (1/2)

Great article. In 2021, I was hospitalized with idiopathic pericarditis (which IS an inflammation). More than one Facebook friend prodded me about whether I ate “inflammatory” foods. It was unhelpful, to put it mildly. I imagine the number would be much higher today thanks to MAGA grift.

Add me to the list of people whose inflammatory issues were sent into overdrive by covid. I think there are a LOT OF US, and the more they attack covid vaccines & cautionary measures, the more folks are rolling the dice on the horrifying long covid complications that almost killed me.
