I realized today that a) I still love new rap and b) I can't afford to shell out $50-80 for every vinyl drop so c) I need to start buying CDs or tapes if I want to support folks and buy physical media. I admit I should've known this...but I'm still in denial over how fucked up the market has become.

And yes, I get the branding aspect. The person is an excellent stylist. But it's not 1968 anymore. Folks shouldn't mimic the underbelly of Baraka's brilliance, whether it's truly in service of Black liberation or just kayfabe for $30 museum panels, newsletter content and limited-edition chapbooks.

No president has ever been more obsessed with being liked by celebrities, especially music stars, than Donald Trump. Suffice it to say, they have not returned the favor.
