also expanded editions have existed since the CD era vinyl has a finite amount of physical space for music, of course the issue of doing a double or triple disc version is going to influence decision making. you don’t get a deal on the second (or third) discs

I don't see the big deal with this. If anything I think it's an incentive to be less precious about having an overly polished final product. Release the unfinished vinyl versions on all platforms you cowards!
