Every few years a comic company repeats the mistake of holding a contest for artists to "win" a gig, in this case it's Ghostmachine's cover contest. "Submit 3-6 samples of cover art featuring Ghost Machine Characters. . ." Some people see opportunity. Experienced pros see a scam. 1/8

It gets more disgusting. In their response to me asking them to remove my materials from their training models, I got a lecture from a Vizzion Studios rep, Charles Arendall, on being 'open-minded' about new technologies, being a 'morality gatekeeper.' Exactly what I expected once masks were off.

The clip that was sent to you is obviously not a reflection of our full capability any more than a 20-second hand sketch would be reflective of yours. It was made in a very narrow time frame in an effort to demonstrate how your art style can be transferred in a cost-effective way. With an actual development process, we can obviously hone and correct the type of errors you mentioned. I won't take the time to respond at length to this entirely unprofessional email, except to say you're welcome to have your legal team contact me if you feel you have been wronged in some way. We have not violated any IP or copyright laws by offering a technology demonstration using public images, and I can assure you many comic artists I've talked with have responded positively to seeing their ideas and art being made into a pitch-ready package for a fraction of the cost it was a year ago. I would encourage you to be more open-minded with emerging technologies, especially considering your art style clearly makes heavy use of digital tools at the ground level. Video games, streaming animation, and CGI films are all using generative technology to add motion and expedite development. If you're committed to playing the role of a morality gatekeeper for your peers, you may find it difficult to navigate professional opportunities going forward.

Following up on this. Late last night, I was sent an unsolicited animated video from Vizzion Studio/Pictures of my Dead Air comic book to 'demonstrate their capabilities.' It was clearly the product of generative AI - despite their repeated denials about using that tech for their projects 1/xx

Everything is bad, but books are good. Get a book. Read the book. Cherish the book. Finish the book. Tell your friends about the book, and leave a review of the book. Hold the book close. Listen to what it tells you. Do as it commands. Place it on the dread altar and let it guide your every choice.
