AC doesn't actually make things colder, it just moves the heat outside. The more people that use it, the hotter it gets outside, the more people want it, and the quicker we accelerate towards local systems collapse.

Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think

What happens if the ratchet can only ever move right and lock in place, to prevent movement back in the other direction? Sooner or later, it’ll be Mecha-Hitler. If we forever rule out change for the better, then what kind of change will we get instead? Look around you, turn on your TV.

It seems obvious now that literally the only thing the Labour leadership cares about is fucking over the membership. No focus or consistency on anything else. Not governing, not geopolitics, not fighting fascism, and not winning elections. The Labour Party's going to die and perhaps it is time.

Our real allies are the people defending their neighbours from government thugs in Minneapolis, not the bastards that sent the thugs. Creasy is retreading shitty Thatcherite arguments from the 80's for paying billions to be strategically dependent on them. While they threaten us.

An emotional response to Trump’s bullying over Greenland will not protect Ukraine, the UK or the rest of Europe. unilaterally abandon trident risks making a bad situation worse- we need to focus on how to strengthen, not weaken our alliances and our allies, and that means prioritising the EU.

i once read "the rights you think criminals should have are the rights you think everyone should have because the state can criminalize anyone" and it changed how i think about everything

I particularly liked it, the time that Tory anonymouse was fretting that Boris Johnson was behaving like Caligula, because it gave me the chance to point out that they hadn’t put Caligula in charge at all - they had all lined up behind the horse that he made a senator

Not just because of Caligula himself, but because the shenanigans raised awkward questions about all those lads who told everyone that having an emperor would be great.

always wondered, when I read Suetonius, how everyone could put up with Caligula for so long.
I think I understand better now. The institutional and social inertia is so strong, especially among elites with "something to lose".
lose". No one wants to stick their heads up first, so they go into denial.

“Who gets the money and resources” was the key question of British politics in the 2010s and the answer, driven forcefully home, was: “The people who already have it, and if you make any trouble about it, then we will all take turns jumping on your fucking head”.

PS Wes Streeting is a snidey little cunt who wants to privatise the NHS and takes beefy donations from private medical companies. Everyone should be able to get the flu jab for free and he is in charge of the decision for it not to be.

I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?
