Hyperemesis Ireland

All-volunteer charity offering support, information, and training in 🇮🇪 for Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG; severe pregnancy sickness and its complications). Hyperemesis.ie RCN 20201046

-HG patient in Ireland in 2026. The theme for this year's HG Awareness Day is: BELIEVE US. This is not "just morning sickness" This is not normal We can't eat, drink, or leave the house We need treatment We need mental health support We don't know if we can survive this without help

You have to really fight to be taken seriously. The advice was crackers, dry foods little and often, and 'maybe don't think too much into it as sometimes these things are in our heads'.

It's actually shocking how little empathy they have for HG patients.

Pregnancy can be a time of joy & anticipation, but can also feel like a relentless battle for women w/ hyperemesis gravidarum, with its persistent nausea & vomiting. Zeinab El Dirani writes about this underfunded & deprioritised condition. @hyperemesisie.bsky.social www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2...

Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is the medical name for severe sickness and vomiting during pregnancy, making it seem like a months-long battle for survival
