Atlanta. Your Next Best Friend.
Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted
We are watching a coup d’état attempt unfold in real time in Brazil. I’m consumed by desperation.
The first day of early voting is in the books in Georgia. Check out my breakdown👇 iamkingwilliams.substack.com/p/georgia-ea...

Welcome to The Breakdown by King Williams, a newsletter covering Atlanta’s hidden connections to everything.

There’s NOT 140,000+ people being evicted from THE CITY OF ATLANTA in 2026. That number came from a study based out of a housing lab at Princeton University. That lab looked at evictions for the region for 2025… Not the city.
Tomorrow! I’ll be a guest on Ann Hill Bond’s new show ‘Love Atlanta’ on 89.3 WRFG to talk about the state of ‘the Atlanta way of doing things’. You can listen live at 4 PM on radio or WRFG’s website!
I know that’s not original thought but… as somebody who goes out to a lot of restaurants in this town we’ve gotta stop charging full price for nonalcoholic cocktails
I never took too much stock into the media literacy debate until recently…But I think a lot of people are having a hard time just accepting character motivations in fiction and not able to accept what they are reading/seeing/hearing
My latest op-ed for Decaturish! Why the greater Decatur area is shaping up to be the next music hub for Metro Atlanta
i don't wanna overpromise before we get the official report back in a couple months, but there's a very real the chance the money we raised last week will abolish more than $4M worth of medical debt around the ATL metro 😵💫
I had a great time hosting a historic tour of the West End w/ realtor Carolyn Githeya-Dennis! This was in partnership w/ KKRU, the West End’s first Pilates studio and is the latest new black-owned business. Special s/o to Iman and her tea company The Waha Brand for providing the refreshments!
Y'all ready to do some good this week? How I'd Fix Atlanta has once again partnered with Undue Medical Debt to help out a bunch of our neighbors. As always, we need your help. Please give what you can and tell everyone you know. unduemedicaldebt.org/campaign/whe...
When Good Georgians Get Together, Great Things Happen
How I’d Fix Atlanta was a free monthly essay series for four years. It’s been a couple of print zines and a performance on a stage a few times. Quite often, it’s stickers. HIFA is large, it contains multitudes. Every September, we do a big fundraiser to abolish medical debt. From 2023-2025, we raised more than […]

I had a great time talking to Clark Atlanta University communication students in the Department of Mass Media Studies. We talked about explainer journalism, digital fact finding, and worked in a real time, real world scenario to build on a still developing story.
Anyone in metro Atlanta thinking that we’re approaching a gas shortage? Maybe it’s just where I’m at
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but a lot of “content” being produced right now about Atlanta’s history focuses only on when they were young…or seems to be focused around signifiers to them, like hip-hop or the projects…
The 1,000-to-1 funding gap in the Georgia Governor’s race, is part of the reason why you aren’t seeing a lot of Keisha Lance Bottoms marketing anywhere
Thank you to everyone who came out on a school night to hear me and Victoria @archiveatlanta to talk about Atlanta’s past, present, and future! Special shoutout to redsbeergarden for hosting us!
If the media is going to demand that Democrats disavow a Twitch streamer they’ve never associated, they better demand Ted Cruz disavow the Republican convention attendee who responded to Cruz’s own attacks on Democrats with calls for their murder.
It’s week two of college football and Kansas is posting a hype video with John Brown and dating their rivalry with Missouri back to slavery is the most insane thing I’ve ever seen (supportive)

When the doors finally closed in April, I stood outside alongside dozens of others who had stopped by the former Target store turned mini-mall, New Black Wall Street, in Stonecrest,

This is very bad, horrible, no good. Georgia is reducing college education into vocational training: (h/t @iamkingwilliams.bsky.social) www.ajc.com/education/20...
Georgia greenlights 3-year college bachelor’s degree
Georgia is the most recent state to endorse a concept that’s been percolating across the U.S. in recent years: a more cost-effective college degree.

“I hate Atlanta” “Atlanta isn’t _____” Atlanta vs * insert city here * ‘To critique’ Why can’t I get _____ in Atlanta I need ‘support’ from Atlanta …Or using a misleading stat or headline (w/ no substantive education) are all growth hack / attention grabbing strategies
