Regardless, I and others deserve enough respect to try to rise to any occasion in front of them. If we cross paths at PyCon and you're happy people like me are here, please tell me. As I bring new people in behind and beside me, I want to introduce them to the Python community I know.

When you see a Black person in open source spaces, they earned it. Period. My XP is deeper and more varied than you think, my track record is formidable & my networking (friend building) is elite. Just bc I don't flex doesn't mean it's not there.

I love my community so much, and the way that my career and impact have been rewarded with wonderful humans with wonderful support, I know the feeling is reciprocal. Do not to use my career success as example of progress in our community. It comes with so much more around it.
