Bit sweary at the end but I think justified as an expression of disappointment in yet another Labour PM coming to power on a wave of promises to be better and that he u-turns on almost immediately. I think using the national emergency warning system to ban barbecues pretty much sums that up.

Just as we weren't prepared for a global pandemic, we're still not prepared for the multiple cascade effects of global climate collapse. Why do we never learn? Why do we have yet another leader who simply can't lead on one of the most existential threats we face? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Britain's scorched fields mean a food crisis – and the government is ignoring the one measure that would help | George Monbiot
This summer’s extreme weather and wars in Iran and Ukraine have made our need for food stockpiles more pressing than ever, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Does Newsnight ever invite guests from anywhere other than right wing papers?
A very deferential interview with Richard Tice on Newsnight - "people are always worried about other people with other cultures coming into the country" says the man obviously speaking from another timezone (looking at the window behind him) who currently lives in Dubai.
Zack Polanski, "I called this press conference.. Because of the shocking scenes of wildfires" "The amount that we hear about what Nigel Farage and Reform UK want to talk about and the little we hear about the climate and nature crisis, is pretty glaring"
Zack Polanski calls for action to prevent more deaths and damage to wildlife and livelihoods during extreme weather. He's interviewed on the the World at One to discuss this existential crisis. Jonny Dymond spends 2 thirds of the interview attacking him about a social media post. The BBC is broken!
It's all about priorities. The tech bros gave politicians a lot of money.
I simply don't understand this. No one was proposing that the government pay for them. Business rates on car parks cost about £1,000 per car per year. All they had to do was say £500 for solar, £1,500 for no solar and it would have happened all by itself. @miattafahnbulleh.bsky.social
As Britain swelters through another heatwave, few people will have heard that ministers have quietly dropped plans for solar carports. Cars cooler in summer. Shelter from the rain in winter. Clean electricity all year round. A missed opportunity? @eastangliabylines.co.uk

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social Hi Victoria. I don't remember you dragging Farage into the studio to explain himself over this. Is there a reason why you chose to specifically target Zack Polanski over an admitted mistake that was far less inflammatory? I thought better of you.
Ok. Zack made a mistake. He's taken responsibility for it, withdrawn it and explained it. This was Reform's response to a far more inflammatory comment which directly called for violence against a politician. I don't remember the BBC dragging Nigel Farage over the coals about this. BBC bias?
America, the land where mothers get arrested because they can't afford diapers for their babies while rich pedophiles get away with raping children. 😪😪😪😪🤬
Not exactly a great start Andy! See also the U-turn on your position on rent controls. Or maybe you think we won't need to worry about rent if you burn the planet to a crisp!
We live in an amazingly diverse ecosystem. Maybe take some time to look up and look around. We're lucky to have this planet to live on. Let's appreciate that before we start looking for others.

Great to hear from Zack this morning. Big crowd for the early morning photo call even though some of us might have been nursing hangovers from festivities last night. Not me obvs! 😉 (Yes I'm at the back as usual!)
Steve Reed at the LGA conference banging on about how government should listen to residents and communities. Maybe he should start by listening to his own advice!
At the very first meeting of the Local Government Association Green Group at the LGA conference in sunny Bournemouth. This is the first year we've passed the threshold for a separate group. Great to be in a room with so many fellow Greens!
Seen this a few times and he's absolutely right. Language a bit colourful but completely nails it. but Every time I see, hear & smell an ICE car now I wince at how cumbersome and old hat the technology is. Like comparing the bullet train to a steam engine. Driving a BEV is a hugely better experience
At a local meeting in Bicester about the proposal to house 1250 asylum seekers on an MOD site nearby. Local Reform leader trying to turn it into a campaign speech. Didn't go down well.
