I’ve been rereading Kafka’s The Trial (in Willa and Edwin Muir’s translation). I can’t quite believe I first read this half a century ago when I was in my teens. I think this is my 7th reading. The book has lost nothing of its power. And it still shocks and moves and makes me laugh at the same time.
