Duke Energy's been running some ads lately saying Datacenters create jobs (not really) follow the rules (Duke Energy literally writes the rules through their cronies in Raleigh) and doesn't even use much water. It's literally the "people are asking me a lot of questions answered by my shirt" meme

Also for whatever it's worth I don't think it's possible he'll move the team to Raleigh, which I see people mentioning sometimes because of his ownership of the Canes. For one he doesn't even live here, two he doesn't own the arena and can't kick NC State basketball out, 3 Charlotte has a team

The league has to get rid of this Dundon guy. He bought the Blazers to hold the city of Portland hostage for arena money and now he's telling all of his underlings to shittalk the city so he can move to Kansas City or something. Cut this shit out or the league will be held hostage by similar ghouls.

I'm not sure people ever really consider how much of like a given city is off limits to them just all the time. Like I feel like I want to do a visualization of a map of a city where you black out all the private buildings you can't enter, all the roads you can't linger in, etc

I love this in tandem with the "why don't you use the bike lanes we already have?" Like maybe they're not where I'm going? Have you driven on every road yet?

It's really weird to see all the stuff around Dundon as a big Canes fan, because like the franchise is undeniably better than it was before he bought the team from Karmanos, but like all the cost cutting is real and he seems to be almost trying to make everyone hate him with the Portland stuff

I'm perpetually surprised by what topics bring venom out from internet strangers, I get politics and economics and things that have material effects on people, but today I got flamed for *disagreeing with a movie review* as if that's not something that should be fair game for polite disagreement

I don't know if it's being a caretaker for an elderly parent, having 2 senior dogs with health issues, seeing news about how I deserve to be treated as a second class citizen everyday, or all of the above, but I'm just perpetually fuckin tired, all the dang time.

I have a personal belief that the more a person is a nerd for something: dinosaurs, The Odyssey, etc, the less likely they are to enjoy a popular entertainment version of that thing.

I think it's been odd to watch a similar thing happen in software companies, like entire teams and subsidiaries are being gutted across the board by layoffs creating a culture of fear for devs... even though the industry is doing mostly fine financially. I think people who do not work in media have trouble grasping how genuinely terrifying it is watching organization after organization (even those ostensibly held by entities able to fund them!) continually get carved down into nothing. Lights going out all over

Politics really is annoying because it's like "Hi, I'm trans" and there's suddenly a political backlash against me existing, then I'm like "oh I like e-bikes" and wouldn't you know, there's a backlash against that too. The vibes may be exciting, but if Democrats are going to win this year and in 2028, they must reject the DSA. If you’re tempted by a democratic socialist this year, think of what use Republicans will make of these victories, and ask whether you want to do favors for fascists.

One of the reasons I don't shut up about trans inclusion in sports is just that sports are a part of life and anyone who wants to do it for fun should be able to, regardless of gender, income or even skill! Let kids have fun! Banning trans girls doesn't solve anything!

I have always said that I am a moderate on trans participation in sports, meaning that inclusion should be balanced with fairness. As science suggests trans women can be included in women's sports fairly, I therefore favor inclusion, like any sensible moderate would.
