This is pretty much perfect. Clever, warm and deeply insightful. I loved this episode (yes, I do love them all. What of it?!). It felt like being part of a conversation with friends. I am going to enjoy my second viewing of the movie so much more, having listened to this. Bravo.

This is exactly why language matters: “women were given the vote” frames equality as a gift from men, instead of hard won political power extracted through organized resistance. Nobody gave women anything. Women fought, marched, strategized, endured violence, went to prison and died for it.

The very real, raw and regal Richard Ashcroft at Newcastle Arena last night…what a show. More folks on stage than ever before (strings! Keys! BVs!), elevating every song to a stadium-worthy anthem. Joy and grace abounded. Happy Easter.

Me, wearing my Richard Ashcroft hoodie Me, facing away from the camera and towards the stage in Newcastle Arena, a few rows of people in front of me. I’m wearing a black hoodie and on the back, in bold white letters, it says “Music is Power”. Richard Ashcroft’s summer tour dates are advertised on a big screen to the right hand of the stage. Richard Ashcroft, front and centre of the stage. A massive “RA” in stage lights behind him. He holds the mic in his left hand, his right hand stretched towards the audience Richard Ashcroft, front and centre of the stage. A massive “RA” in stage lights behind him. He plays a Gibson acoustic guitar.

If love and acceptance have felt out of reach, I hope this image invites you to reconsider that story. For those who don’t struggle with it, I hope it affirms what you already know.

Spent last night screaming with everybody on the Everybody Scream tour. Excellent. 10/10, would recommend. Florence is a force of nature…a woman at the height of her power is an awe-inspiring and dangerously wonderful thing.

I prosecute and defend the most serious sexual offences in our courts. The overwhelming majority of offenders are British-born. Overwhelmingly the victim is someone known to them, either a partner or relative. Anybody purporting to care about protecting women might start there.

Either Palestine is a state or it isn’t - it’s not a state (or not) depending on what another state is doing. This is a cowardly response which buys Labour some time; unfortunately, the people of Gaza don’t have much time left. There’ll be little and less left to recognise in September. For shame.
