Parton spoke in support of gay people for close to forty years. I am old enough to vividly remember the limb she was out on in doing so. So let me put it another way: We may not know what her politics were, but we certainly know what they weren't.

A neighbour said to me yesterday that “Dolly Parton was loved because she wasn’t political” and I gently said no, she was absolutely political, just not in *partisan* politics. I wish more people understood the distinction, though I did cheer when Springsteen endorsed Obama once he saw the need 🇺🇸

Your regular reminder that if not for the Trump and Bush tax cuts, federal revenues would keep pace with federal spending indefinitely. Instead, these tax cuts have added at least $10 trillion to the debt. The so called "party of fiscal responsibility" is full of it.
