With PAXU this weekend, I once again come to you with a desperate plea: Just go to whatever pizza place is nearest to you. You do not need to go to Cheesesteak Vegas. You do not need to wait in line outside at Angelos. Any pizza place will serve you a perfectly serviceable cheesesteak. I beg you.

I’m used to kids being some of toughest shits you’ll ever run into. Mean, sharp, not to be fucked with in groups. Not scary (well sometimes), but they don’t play around. So when I told three teenagers in a Stockholm theatre “Yo shut the FUCK up” tonight, I was not expecting them to look like this.

One of the under-discussed problems with adapting TTRPGs into other media that really isn’t shared by anything else is the issue of “how do you adapt something that’s meant to be countless different things for different people into one thing without pissing off more people than you make happy?”

Not a secret opinion by any means (in some way it is the core of my persona), but GODdamn we need to work on media literacy of folks in nerd media. For a long time it was purely the signs/signifiers/grammar of media, but I’m getting to the point where I’m convinced folks just don’t watch/read/play.

Something I think doesn’t get talked about enough is how a generation raised on Roblox, where the core value proposition is “whatever you want but it sucks and is slop,” is infinitely prepped for fully procgen slop AI games. That’s what they know, and buyers generally want what they know.

today at the park we saw wild turkeys and some dude behind us was like “bro look at those owls” so what I’m saying is don’t ever let anyone make you feel stupid. you can visually identify a turkey
