It's time for Part 2 of Scripting for Game Trailers: MUSIC Trying to make a trailer without music is like trying to bake a cake without a cake pan. It's going to get very messy. www.indiebard.co/knowledge/sc...
Scripting for Game Trailers Part 2: Music — IndieBard
Music is the backbone of any trailer script. It sets the pace of the cuts, enhances the tone of the content, and serves as a conduit of emotion. Trying to make a trailer without music is like trying t...

Scripting for Game Trailers, continued! Today we talk about EMOTIONS Gain your core audience's interest by embuing your game trailer with emotions they enjoy from the gameplay experience In other words, 🕺hook them on a feeling🕺 www.indiebard.co/knowledge/scripting-for-game-trailers-series-emotions
I've been very good about working out on a regular schedule this year. But saying it here if someone else needs to hear it like I often do: It is OKAY if you need to skip a day (or two) when you have a lot going on. You're still awesome, and your past & future work on yourself is not derailed. 💖

This is a great intro to how the goals of a game trailer affect its design and the creative choices you'll make!
Scripting for game trailers = everything everywhere all at once I've written a multi-part blog series breaking down important elements of scripting for trailers, and how they're all interconnected. The introduction is live now: www.indiebard.co/knowledge/scripting-for-trailers-introduction

Scripting for Game Trailers Series: Introduction — IndieBard
When I meet with a team to start talking about a trailer for their game, I often begin by asking them what their goals are for the trailer. But that’s a bigger question than you might think. Since ...

Also this is the first time I realised that Donald Glover plays Uncle Aaron in TWO Spideruniverse movies, so that's fun
Spider-Man Homecoming really feels like the delightful breath of fresh air the Marvel Universe needed. Also, Vulture (don't think he's ever called that in the film tho?) is such a good villain! He never goes insane, his only cold-blooded murder is accidental, he just has a good reason to do crimes.

Captain America: Civil War is a great movie. It's just not a Captain America movie.
If you work in games marketing or make trailers for games do you play the game you’re working on? (I’m researching for a video) I especially want to hear stories from people for whom the answer is no (or if they’ve work with or under people who either never played the game or played very little)

In a first-time thing for me, I'm heading to Gamescom in August! I'm available for meetings, hangs, and catch-ups! Wanna ramble about video game trailers? I'd love to chat! Wanna take a stroll around the Chocolate Museum? I'll be there in a heartbeat!
Okay I kind of take it back. Ant Man doesn't waste any time on its villain because it does a GOOD job introducing a lot of characters, making them interesting, and giving the major players clear emotional arcs. Tension is introduced, developed, and resolved, in time for the final showdown. 😘🤌🫴
On the one hand, I know I'm biased towards a villains with clear motives and character arcs, and that's not really a thing in superhero movies. On the other hand... In Ant Man, the villain murders a guy in the first 15 minutes, then says he's totally not mad at Pym anymore in the next scene.

Is it any wonder Chris Evans wanted out of the Captain America suit, when they gave him the most boringest movies in the Marvel franchise. (haven't watched Civil War yet but c'mon that's just a sneaky Avengers movie)
I accidentally skipped Captain America: The Winter Soldier, because I just forgot about it. Then suddenly wondered, mid-Ultron, when we found out about the SHIELD / HYDRA thing. So I watched it last night... and felt like I coulda skipped it, honestly.
I couldn't sit still through the first several Marvel films. Never having seen them before (besides Avengers 1), I found them trite, boring, lazy. they also didn't age well. but Guardians of the Galaxy is just a good movie, man.
I thought Thor The Dark World was going to be awful so was pleasantly surprised it's just meh. I appreciate how quickly they realised that serious Thor didn't work and gave him more to do. It's ages from Ragnarok but the shift is already there. Also...how lucky they did they get with Hemsworth??
Iron Man 3 is by far and away the best Iron Man movie. It is also only okay, and it is also the worst Christmas movie ever.

Just to say, Suzanne was fantastic to work with on the Nighthawks trailer. Super fast, very responsive with edits and alternate versions and tweaking, and extremely polite in the face of what I’m sure were many cases of hair-pulling “um, I’m not sure, but maybe if we…” developer prevaricating.
