This is a very good thread. I don’t know if I agree with every single particular, but the one piece I want to drill down on is this: if you say policy is the only thing, you are quite often saying “here is a list of words that, if you say them, I’m ride and die for you.”

So there’s a famously pugilistic poster on here (who has me blocked) who said, essentially, that character doesn’t matter when choosing to vote. Only policy. And I think that is just fundamentally backwards and, ultimately, the reason why the online left keeps falling for lying grifters. (Thread)

Since this still pops up: After 14 years of litigation a judge has ruled last month that the recording violated both state and federal law and nobody is allowed to listen to or use the tapes. Buttigieg's decision has been proven correct after all. youtu.be/St_w8Jv37p8

The reason there’s no controversy section is that white people don’t count cowardly appeasing racists in your community as a scandal.

I truly hope they are able to trace this back to whoever did it and charge them. I get so angry every time I think about this. The trauma will stay long after people who thought this was funny have had their laughs. abcnews.com/GMA/News/pet...

'We just can't go on like this': Pete Buttigieg speaks out after child services swatting incident

Buttigieg spoke in a new interview with "Good Morning America" co-anchor George Stephanopoulos.

Pete Buttigieg has been out front on structural democratic reform for a long time. 👇 Pete in July 2019: "You're telling me we can't reform our democracy in our time? We have to. Or we'll be having the same argument 20 years from now."

Buttigieg in Toronto today: "If I were to sit here and say the US political system is broken, it would be the least memorable thing I’ve said all day. It’s said so often that it’s a cliché. The question is if everybody agrees the system is broken, how much longer can we go on acting like it’s not?"

What REALLY Happened with the Keegan-Michael Key Pete Buttigieg Endorsement I probably shouldn’t be saying this… but it’s been long enough. This is the inside story of a Keegan-Michael Key Pete Buttigieg moment that almost turned into something much bigger, and then didn’t.

Buttigieg: “JD Vance is gonna have a lot of work to do if he’s gonna be the new fraud czar…Given the fraud convictions of the Trump organization, Trump figured out that he should outsource the investigation to somebody else in the administration. I’m a little worried about what’s in store.”

I think a lot of people who have never made a point in their lives that was heard and received by anyone who didn’t already agree w them have no conception of what Buttigieg is doing here—aiming at ppl who don’t know what to think yet—and are unfairly lumping him w Concerned Letter Writing Dems.

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social: "We have an ICE agent who should have been trained not to be in front of a vehicle and never to shoot into a moving vehicle, and yet this happened on [Kristi Noem's] watch. The whole POINT of Homeland Security is to make this country more stable and safe."

"Iron laws of the world"? Some of America's most important national accomplishments are about leading humanity away from this kind of bullshit. If we let ideologues like Stephen Miller drag us back into a world where brute force is all that matters, all of us will be less safe.
