Indulged Cats

Mostly cats and gardening. Juvenile chronic kidney disease tortitude, crazy wannabe cuddly tabby, and goofball longhair cats live here. Golden Retrievers are the best dogs.

In March my 103 year old Aunt got an amazing call. The POW/MIA Agency had recovered and identified her cousin, Elmer Blonien, who after the Bataan Death March perished in a Japanese POW camp in 1942. Pvt. Blonien was finally laid to rest today in his small hometown, Rudolf, WI. My Aunt, was there.
I'm happy to be quoted in this piece about why you should never punish a dog for growling www.thefarmersdog.com/digest/why-y...

Vaccinate your pets against rabies. Molly just got her booster. Even though she's outside only with supervision, you never know when wildlife might be around. #CatsOfBluesky #cats #DogsOfBluesky #dogs
1/ Rabies remains one of the deadliest infections on earth. Yet in California, almost every human case is preventable. With summer wildlife activity increasing and bats accounting for more than 90% of our animal rabies cases, here's what you need to know along with a few other public health updates👇
I'm home from the vet. Mom removed the bandage from my leg and tried to wash some of the alcohol off my belly and legs. Jeez, they must have spilled 1/2 a bottle of alcohol on me! And I got a tube of licky treat (salmon). Now I'll try to clean myself in the warm backyard.
I've been catnapped and taken to the vet for my annual exam. Ive been weighed and proded and now they're going to poke me for blood & urine and give me my rabies vaccination. Pesky humans!

The wind-blown butterfly bush flowers are still attractive to butterflies.
Some backyard color today. Unfortunately, the 2-day wind storm seems to have sapped the flowers of their vigor.
Another wonderfully informative video. Thanks Dr. Em. #DogsOfBlueSky
Today was busy, so I'm just now getting the chance to make a post about today's video: pannus! Have you heard about this progressive eye disease that is worsened by sunlight?!? youtu.be/BS9XTgXryH8 🐾
I've never heard of this condition. Thanks for putting together such an informative video.
Have you ever heard of 'pillow foot'? While it's more common in felines, it can also impact canines! Join Dr. Em to learn what you need to know youtu.be/ENGNPMvRYyc 🐾
Does bathing/swimming mean wash off topical antiparasitics for dogs/cats? Do dogs that swim a lot need more frequent treatment? tl:dr: No. Depending on the product, keeping them out of water for a few hours to a few days may be needed, but after that, they're fine. 1/n

Any info on risks to pets in vet clinics after a pet who is infected with multi-drug resistant bacteria visits the vet? The raw food die-hards put more than just their pet's health at risk. Too bad vets can't refuse these clients and minimize risks to their staff and the pets of other clients.
