tried to start an audiobook this am but the secondhand embarrassment was so bad i had to put it down for a bit. started another one. just bleak and horrible all around. started a THIRD one. FINALLY something hopeful my god

This has been a slowly metastasizing moral panic for years: Liberals, drunk on therapy-speak, are cutting off their parents over minor slights and miscommunications. There is little evidence of the underlying phenomenon and even less of the cause. Look at this egregiously thin nut graf.

Although exact figures are scarce, the number of people cutting off close kin — particularly children cutting off parents — appears to be rising. Some speculate that therapists offering a speciously easy solution to a seemingly untenable problem are to blame

i said i wasn’t going to engage but as someone who has worked specifically in US-based entertainment: appearances are approved via agents. social posts get vetted before posting. that they had access means that they were listed and it went through avenues that required outsider approval.
